It’s barely out and propelling itself for the beggining, but in its first season the Extreme E has elevated interest from hundreds of thousands of engine fans across the globe.
Perhaps it is because of its goal of preserving the world and developing races in beaten environments by climate change, the attractive electric SUVs with an imposing design or the drivers who will see action, but the truth is that from now on many people dream about the start of the competition.
That is why a list with the 10 main characteristics of the new off-road SUV race will be presented next, so you know all the details of the electric premiere of 2021.
1.- The idea of creating Extreme E came up during a breakfast between the Spanish businessman, Alejandro Agag, and the motorsport legend Gil de Ferran. The objective was clear: Create a captivating adventure to tell the effects of climate change.
2.- The competition is made up of 10 teams and 22 drivers, divided into 10 men and 10 women.
3.- All logistics are mobilized in the ST Helena, a former Royal Mail cargo and passenger ship that was modified in order to not leave carbon emissions. All its spaces were modernized.
4.- The official vehicle of the Extreme E is an electric SUV called ODYSSEY 21. It weighs 1650 kilograms and is 2.3 meters wide. Although it is a very large off-road vehicle, and it can go from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 4.5 seconds.
5.- The competition will be held in some of the world’s places more affected by climate change. The first season will consist of five races that will take place on four continents. The destinations will be: Al-Ula – Saudi Arabia, Pink Lake – Senegal, Kangerlussuaq – Greenland, Pará – Brazil and Tierra de Fuego – Argentina.
6.- One of the attractions that has raised the interest of millions of motorsport fans is that the race will reignite the rivalry between Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton. Although they will not be behind the wheel, each of them are the founders of the teams. They are Rosberg Xtreme Racing and X44 respectively.

7.- With the objective of not damaging any of the spaces where the events will take place, none of the races will have an in-person audience. To do this, Extreme E will broadcast all their races through major TV channels, as well as on their social networks.
8.- The layout of the circuits and the development of the logistics of the event will be advised by a panel of scientists, who will provide the most suitable advice so that the impact of the races on the environment will be very low.
9.- During the mobilization between races of the boat ST. Helena, a group of scientists on board will be conducting various investigations in order to develop projects that benefits the places where they will arrive.
10.- In order to promote gender inclusion, not only each team will have a man and a woman as a pair of drivers, but each of them must take turns between laps.
