The mission and work of Extreme E across the globe has been noticed since day one when the project was first announced. However, it recently reached the next level after receiving nominations for the 2021 Sport Business Awards, along with Aurora Media Worldwide, as recognition for sustainability efforts.
The 100% electric rally category was nominated in two categories: Sports Innovation Award and Sustainability in Sport, while Aurora Media Worldwide, the agency in charge of the television broadcast, received the nomination for Agency of the Year.
The Extreme E footprint on society has managed to achieve a major change by reaching out to the masses in order to identify environmental problems and to propose solutions to slow down the rising global temperature, and all this in its very first season. This means that the project aims to continue to grow and position higher than it already figures.
Electrification, sustainability and gender equality are the main characteristics that the category seeks to promote through racing, offering a spectacle of incredible speed over the most demanding scenarios where the ODYSSEY 21 can run with the least possible impact on the planet.

Aurora Media Worldwide also contributes by broadcasting the X Prix, a complicated task to accomplish due to the remote locations where Extreme E competes (jungles, beaches, deserts, arctic, glaciers); therefore, the work to deliver races to people’ homes is very important.
“Being shortlisted for honors in these three categories by Sports Business is a huge boost for us and our host broadcast agency, Aurora Worldwide. We are beyond thrilled to have made it to the shortlist,” said Ali Russell, Marketing Director of Extreme E.
“We are delighted to have been shortlisted alongside Extreme E, where sustainability and innovation are central focuses of our business. These are key stories to tell and the electric category is the perfect platform to push the boundaries into this space. We consider ourselves fortunate to be working alongside a partner who is ambitious, but also provides us with the confidence and a degree of freedom to execute their vision,” said James Pearce, Director of Partnerships at Aurora Media Worldwide.
