CUPRA Racing successfully carried out the first official test of their e-Racer, with which the Spanish brand will contest the opening season of PURE ETCR.
The headquarters of the first test of the vehicle was MotorLand Aragón, in Spain, where Jordi Gené completed more than 250 kilometers last Thursday, February 25 and Friday, February 26.
“At the end of last week we ran for the first time on a real racetrack since integrating the official ETCR technology in the UK,” said Xavi Serra – Head of Development at CUPRA Racing.

“It’s been a great challenge because we’ve had to get used to the charging and cooling phases with the new ETCR-certified technology, but the result was positive and we had no problems. We are more and more prepared to start competing.”
Gené, a Spanish Touring Car Champion and World Touring Car Championship (WTCR) race winner, was impressed by the experience: “In addition to its spectacular acceleration, the CUPRA e-Racer has fantastic weight distribution as well which, combined with the position of the battery, gives us very good feedback. It is a car that handles extremely well and we’re very happy with the development work we’ve done.”
Gené will be joined in the team by world Rallycross champion Mattias Ekstrom and Mikel Azcona, winner of the WTCR race and former TCR Europe (Touring Car Series) champion. PURE ETCR gets underway at the Autodromo Vallelunga Piero Taruffi from June 18 to 20.
