One location, two races, two winners. The 2022 season of the WES UCI E-Mountain Bike World Cup 2022 started this April 23-24 in Monaco-Peille, opening up the panorama of what will be a great competition throughout the year, where once again Jérôme Gilloux and Justine Tonso claimed victory in the second race of the weekend.
Perfect results for the French riders of the Lapierre Overlolt team, who were solid since their arrival in Monegasque territory. On the women’s side, Tonso crossed the finish in first place with a lead of 28 seconds, a little smaller than the first race. In second place was Switzerland’s Nathalie Schneitter, while the podium was completed by Nicole Göldi.
The men’s field saw Gilloux back on top of the podium as the absolute winner of Monaco-Peille, who completed the six laps and 14.4 kilometers in total in 48 minutes and 55 seconds, 1.11 minutes ahead of Hugo Pigeon, and three minutes behind Joris RYF.

Similarly, the “Magneti Marelli Checkstar Power Lap” was won by Gilloux and Tonso, who both completed the fastest lap on the circuit. Justine took the honors after stopping the timer in 9.06.93, while Jérôme did the same with 7.34.84.
The fast laps have become an additional incentive to compete, as whoever accumulates the most records at the end of the season will win 1,000 euros. In this way, the Frenchmen of Lapierre Overlolt celebrate the great performance during the debut, but already preparing for what will be the second appointment of the calendar.
Bologna, Italy, will continue with the WES UCI E-Mountain Bike World Cup 2022 action, from May 28-29, where the riders’ championship has Gilloux as leader with 50 points, Pigeon with 40, Loïc Noël with 24, Emeric Ienzer with 22 and the top 5 closes with Fabio Spena (21). The women’s side shows Tonso (50) in the lead, Schneitter (36), Sofia Wiedenroth (31), Nicole Göldi (27) and Estelle Charles (26).
