Formula E announced the NXT Gen Cup, the world’s first 100% electric junior touring car series with male and female drivers, as a supporting series to help develop the next generation of young talent in key motorsport markets.
The NXT Gen Cup will feature at all four European racing events in Season 10 of the ABB FIA Formula E ABB World Championship, including Misano, Monaco, Berlin and its season finale in London.
It is planning its strongest schedule to date with six European races in total, and the start of its driver lineup, many of whom are under 17 years old.

Competition Focus
The ABB FIA Formula E ABB World Championship presents the NXT Gen Cup as a dedicated support series that gives young male and female talent the opportunity to compete on the same circuits as Formula E’s 22 world-class drivers.
It also benefits Formula E’s mission to showcase new sustainable electric racing formats at iconic venues around the world, while providing fans with additional on-track action as part of the race day spectacle.
Subject to final FIA approval, NXT Gen Cup‘s inaugural appearance in the Formula E paddock will begin in Misano, Italy, on April 13-14, marking the start of the World Championship’s European tour and the first time it races on the World Circuit.
Alberto Longo, Co-Founder and Director of the Formula E Championship, explained that the addition of an all-electric junior category to the European part of the calendar will further contribute to the essential development of young talent.
“It is a key part of our sport, and will give them the opportunity to compete on the same stage as our world-class drivers. and teams,” he added.
For his part, Fredrik Lestrup, Founder of the NXT Gen Cup series, explained that the NXT Gen Cup went from an idea on paper less than two years ago to competing alongside ABB FIA Formula E and DTM this year.
“Together with Formula E and DTM, we have created a spectacular calendar that will give our junior drivers a solid foundation to start their racing careers and showcase their talents to some of the best teams and partners in the world.”
