The McLaren team reported the brand new addition of Taylor Barnard as driver for season 11. The Briton was a reserve and development driver for the team.
Barnard had his first competitive experience behind the wheel of a Formula E car for the team at the 2024 Monaco E-Prix and Berlin E-Prix, filling in at the last minute for the injured Sam Bird.
Finishing those races 14th, 10th and 8th respectively, Barnard impressed and became the youngest driver to score points in Formula E history at the age of 19.

“I’m delighted to be racing for the NEOM McLaren Formula E team in season 11,” says Barnard. “In season 10, I was the team’s reserve and development driver and during that time I learned a lot, putting my new knowledge into practice in Monaco and Berlin.”
“I’m excited to be racing alongside Sam this season and I’m sure I’ll learn a lot from him. He is one of the most experienced drivers on the grid and I hope that together we can score a lot of points and collect some trophies for the team,” added the promising youngster.
Barnard started racing single-seaters in 2020. On his way up the motorsport ladder, the Briton became runner-up in the 2022 Formula 4 ADAC, as well as runner-up in the 2023 Formula Middle East Regional Championship. In 2023, during his debut season in FIA Formula 3, he scored his first championship victory at Spa-Francorchamps.
In 2024, Barnard shared FIA Formula 2 duties with AIX Racing alongside his role as a reserve and development driver for NEOM McLaren.
