The ST Helena, the ship in charge of mobilizing all the logistics of the Extreme E races, arrived yesterday in Senegal, where the Ocean X Prix will take place on May 29 and 30.
The boat, which also has on board a research center with long-standing scientists dedicated to developing studies of the spaces in which the electric SUV series sees action, was sailing for approximately four weeks.
Following the inaugural Extreme E race on April 3-4 in Saudi Arabia, the ST. Helena undertook the journey from her to Senegalese waters through the Mediterranean Sea (using the Suez Canal) until it reached the west coast of Africa.

The founder and CEO of Extreme E, Alejandro Agag, showed feelings of relief knowing that the boat completed its trip successfully and in time for the X Prix.
“St. Helena’s safe arrival means we can now focus on preparing for the Ocean X Prix later this month, and the next phase of our Legacy Programme, which includes the planting of one million mangroves along the West African coastline. As well as bringing our fantastic electric racing series to a place with such a legendary motorsport history”.

It should be noted that the official boat of the competition was previously used as a mail ship. After being acquired by the new series of electric SUVs, it was modified to emit the least amount of emissions possible. In addition, it was remodeled in all her spaces, in which she has 62 cabins on board, a restaurant with 80 seats and a science laboratory.
On the other hand, the ST. Helena features chairs made from plastic bottles recycled from the Mediterranean Sea and energy-efficient LED lights.
