Within the framework of World Recycling Day celebrated on March 17, Extreme E strengthened their commitment to the environment by announcing an alliance with the company “Polymateria”, known for being the creator of the world’s first plastic with biodegradability in the open air.

Among the agreements that emerged from the union, it was possible to know that during the 5 events that will take place during 2021, Polymateria’s innovative biotransformation technology will be used, which will be reflected in glasses, food containers and even masks facials.

In addition, all the materials collected in each of the X Prix will be strictly collected for recycling and later useful life in secondary scenarios.

The founder and CEO of Extreme E, Alejandro Agag, was delighted with the partnership with Polymateria, which he described as a key union to generate contributions in new solutions that contribute to erase global plastic pollution.

“The science-based approach it takes provides a unique opportunity to visualise their technology in action at key race sites, illustrating both the global problem but a credible solution in action. This is another example of Extreme E embracing the latest and best global innovations to tackle major environmental challenges”

For his part, the CEO of Polymateria, Niall Dunne, expressed that it is very exciting to work with an organization with which he shares the same desire to minimize plastic pollution.

“Plastic pollution is a major global environmental crisis and more innovation and collaboration is needed if we are serious about solving this problem. Polymateria’s Biotransformation technology uniquely brings recycling together with biodegradability, fusing the mechanical and natural cycles to create a truly circular economy. We need materials to be recycled as a matter of priority but also leave no environmental harm should they find their way into the natural environment.”

About Polymateria

With an approach that guarantees the biodegradation of plastic, ensuring that it can disappear from natural environments in a maximum of one year, Polymateria has managed to replicate their name in several countries. Their team is made up of the most relevant polymer scientists on the planet.
