Two STEM Student Ambassadors, Jessica Brito and Santhiya Chandrakumar, joined Extreme E just in time for the Desert X Prix in Saudi Arabia, supporting the championship’s logistical and partnership operations at the five races scheduled for Season 4.
The students were selected through the McLaren Racing 60 Scholars, a program initiated by McLaren in 2023 for the purpose of fostering and supporting the next generation of female leaders in the academic disciplines of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
This program, named in honor of the team’s 60th anniversary the previous year, recruited 60 promising aspiring leaders of tomorrow to participate in an intensive learning and mentoring program. Its goal is to pave the way to a career in motorsports.

Extreme E: The Students’ Role
Within their roles, students will directly support the hospitality and partnerships team, gaining exposure to the wider team tasked with producing and running each event while developing a detailed understanding of the race format and the various responsibilities required to run each X Prix.
In addition, this role involves leading the guest experience in the Explorer Lounge, Extreme E’s on-site hospitality center, gaining knowledge of Extreme E, as well as the key partners, sponsors and teams that are part of the series.
On the other hand, they must also coordinate Paddock Tours for VIP guests, receiving an insider’s view of the teams and engineering partners such as Continental Tyres, Spark Racing Technologies, FOX Suspension, and other broadcast experts.
In doing so, this opportunity provides ambassadors with exceptional exposure to racing teams and suppliers operating at the pinnacle of motorsports.
“Supporting the next generation is a key part of the Extreme E ethos and we are delighted to welcome Jessica Brito and Santhiya Chandrakumar, who were extremely impressive at their first event in Saudi Arabia, to the championship,” said Ali Russell, Extreme E CEO.
