After an intense action in Greenland, Extreme E rested enough to replenish energy and move to Europe for the first time this season, as the Island X Prix is ready to give continuity to the battle for the championship, featuring Rosberg X Racing, X44 Team and Andretti United.
Sardinia, Italy, will be the location selected by the organization of the 100% electric off-road category to continue with the adrenaline on track. The place is affected by climate change and forest fires, so Extreme E had to reach this region to make a positive impact and try to cause a significant change.
“The island has been suffering as a result of the climate crisis, and I am very pleased that our Legacy Programs here are two-fold, focusing on both land and ocean by reforesting areas affected by wildfires, and blue carbon through seagrass restoration and conservation,” said Alejandro Agag, founder and CEO of Extreme E. “The island has been suffering at the hands of the climate crisis, and I am very pleased that our Legacy Programs here are two-fold, focusing on both land and ocean through reforestation in areas affected by wildfires, which are still affected by wildfires, and blue carbon through seagrass restoration and conservation,” said Alejandro Agag, Extreme E founder and CEO.

Moreover, he said that Sardinia is richly and uniquely loaded with motorsport heritage, and will not be entirely unfamiliar to any of the drivers. However, the first European track will undoubtedly serve as a challenge for the fourth race of the inaugural campaign.
What to Expect in Sardinia?
Let’s remember that in the last meeting held on Greenland, Andretti United took the glory to end Rosberg X Racing’s hegemony. They were joined by JBXE on the second place, and finally the podium closed with ACCIONA | Sainz XE. All this will now be in the past and the 2019 Formula 1 World Champion’s team will seek to remain at the top of the championship.
It will be difficult, but they have an optimal vehicle and two talented drivers who can achieve the objectives. Sardinia is the second largest island of the western Mediterranean Sea, and many people know it for hosting several motorsport events. Rally d’Italia and the World Rally Championship have been among them.
Back in 1922, the island hosted its first event. The Corsa Gentleman Sardi from Cagliari to Suelli, also, the Rally di Sardegna that took place from 1957 to 1968. The Rally Costa Smeralda was held in 1978.
“Sardinia’s particularly versatile track again placed new demands on our tires. It was a demanding challenge to develop a tire that, as an all-rounder, can master not only the terrain at Sardinia, but also at all other racing venues, especially since their intended use is not normal driving but racing. So far, the Extreme E Cross Contact has been convincing at all races, but we are particularly excited about the upcoming race,” said Catarina Silva, Team Leader for Summer Product Management, 4×4 and Van Products at Continental.
