After taking all the spotlight in the “Rookie Test” held in Berlin, a track where he showed his skills and dominated from start to finish, Felipe Drugovich will be back in the ring in Rome.
The young Brazilian will have a second chance to impress during the Rookie Free Practice session in the Italian capital. The new event, which is exclusively for rookie drivers, will see some of motorsport’s brightest talents take to the iconic street circuit aboard the electric GEN3.
Drugovich already has a great track record as the reigning FIA Formula 2 Champion. Throughout the 2022 season, the Maserati MSG Racing man scored five wins and 11 podiums to win the series.
His skill and talent also caught the attention of teams within F1, as he currently holds the role of Reserve Driver at Aston Martin and McLaren.

Performance in Germany
During his test day in Berlin for the Monegasque team in April, Drugovich closed 99 laps and finished the day with a time that was more than a tenth faster than the rest of the pack.
Not only did the team prove the Brazilian’s skills, but his performance helped the team gather vital data, which helped them win Round 11 in Jakarta.
“My first experience with Formula E in Berlin was very positive, and I found the Maserati very fun and rewarding to drive,” said Drugovich.
“The series is unique compared to any other single-seater category, and after discovering the nuances of the GEN3 car earlier this year, I’m excited to continue my own development as a driver in Rome.”
Drugovich also noted that representing such an iconic Italian brand in the heart of its capital city will be a very special experience, for which he thanked the team that agreed to give him the opportunity.
Regarding the regulations established by Formula E to field rookies, teams can count on someone who has tested machinery in the series before, but they must not be drivers included in the Season 9 Entry List, and they must not have competed in a Formula E race in their career previously.
The idea is to give the best young talent a pathway to compete at the top of the motorsport category with a Formula E flavor, and the opportunity to impress prospective teams in the world’s leading electric racing series.
