Formula E Changes Preseason Circuit Due to Flooding in Valencia

Formula E is considering the possibility of changing the preseason tests to the Jarama circuit, which has 16 turns (the category marks 11 turns in its published design) and an extension of 3.915 kilometers, as a replacement for the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia, whose surroundings and accesses were affected by last week’s floods.

Jarama welcomed Formula 1 for the last time with Gilles Villeneuve’s well-remembered defense in the 1981 Spanish GP. The track has also hosted the World Motorcycling Championship and various national and regional categories, although, due to the lack of the necessary reforms, it has not been able to return to high-level categories.

It should be remembered that the all-electric category explained that the change of venue was given to be able to test the new Gen3Evo and the technologies that are intended to incorporate, such as the rapid recharge of energy to the batteries in the middle of the race.

Safety Details

The system has had failures and has not been safe, which is why it was not introduced until now in the official events.

In addition, on November 8, the test for female drivers will take place, and the teams have presented two female riders who will get into the cars on the final day of the pre-season tests on Madrid soil.

Finally, we will be able to see the two new drivers arriving this year: Zane Maloney, coming from Formula 2, will race with the Lola Yamaha Abt team, while Taylor Barnard will make the jump from reserve driver to starter with McLaren.

The Briton also raced in F2. In turn, Kiro Race Co wants to test drivers, so David Beckmann is expected to join Dan Ticktum, although none was officially announced. It is not known if Sergio Sette Camara will have laps in the car of the former ERT team.
