No matter how advanced the technology is at the moment, work must still continue to develop automated and optimal systems that can prevent accidents, although at the end of the day the reaction capacity that drivers have on board their vehicles will influence all things.
However, extra help does not fall completely wrong, since in certain situations technology can prevent or alert people to the arrival of an imminent danger or any other event that not only endangers their lives, but also third parties on the road, which can be from drivers to pedestrians.
For this reason, DS has put to work to develop and optimize a system called Driver Attention Monitoring, which is constantly monitoring and paying attention to drivers when they are behind the wheel. The objective is to analyze the behavior through your gaze to detect signs of fatigue that can eventually trigger bulky events.

How does the Driver Attention Monitoring system work?
The Driver Attention Monitoring system consists of a video camera that is always aware of the driver’s eyes, which is installed above the steering wheel and the upper part of the windshield. Once there, it is in charge of studying and analyzing the blinking sequence, the movements that the person makes through his head and as well as the direction of the gaze.
Now, the amazing thing about this advance is that it can be used both day and night, what’s more, infrared sensors are capable of passing through sunglasses to fulfill their function, among which it stands out to alert when the individual diverts attention from the way to his phone, since it considers it a fault and immediately displays an alert on the central screen of the car followed by an alarm type sound.
On the other hand, in addition to what was previously described, this analysis is combined with an exhaustive study of the trajectory of the vehicle on the road, being able to know if it is traveling within the correct lane.
Finally, the Driver Attention Monitoring is equipped in the DS 9 E-Tense models, in order to reduce the risks at the wheel, especially on long trips, which is when fatigue begins to take its toll on drivers. However, it is expected that later it can reach other models to expand its technology.
