Jean-Éric Vergne gave an interview to ‘Mundo Deportivo’ in which he challenged the Formula 1 world champion driver Fernando Alonso to join the grid of the electric series that is gaining more and more importance, Formula E.
“In Formula E everyone has the same car and the same chances of winning. If you think you are the best you should come to Formula E and try to beat us,”said DS Techeetah driver.
Beyond the fact that the challenge could be quite aggressive, the Frenchman recognized Alonso’s career and expressed that if the Spanish wanted to join the competition it would be “fantastic” for everyone in the sport.

It should be noted that the founder of the electric series, Alejandro Agag has tried to convince the Spanish pilot on more than one occasion to take part in the competition.
“Obviously the championship would love to have Fernando… but I don’t know. It is the teams that speak directly to the drivers,”explained Agag in 2019.
He tried it with Hamilton
Returning to the two-time Formula E champion in the 2017-2018 seasons, Vergne has previously tried to recruit drivers from other competitions to join the electric series. Such was the case with the current Formula 1 champion, Lewis Hamilton.
“I think it will be a logical step for him to come in Formula E, to do a lot more than just being a racing driver. A lot more than just being the greatest racing driver of all time but to change the mentality of people, to inspire younger generations. Because the younger generation needs to grow up with the things that we can teach them – exactly like what Lewis did,”said Vergne.
Vergne’s comments came after the British driver invited his followers to reflect on the environment and the impact on the world, especially through the diet.
