London to Host a New Formula E Title Battle

London dresses up for a new definition of Formula E, which is already celebrating a decade of bringing sporting excitement with a sustainable purpose.

The series will crown a ninth different champion in its ten-year history this weekend, unless Antonio Félix Da Costa, Jean-Éric Vergne or Jake Dennis come from behind.

Up to seven drivers are in with a chance of winning the World Championship, but Nick Cassidy, Pascal Wehrlein and Mitch Evans are the clear favorites.

The Contenders

The three drivers with the best chances of becoming champions are Cassidy, Wehrlein and Evans. It should be noted that if any of them are crowned, the trend of one new champion per year would continue.

Cassidy has led the World Championship for much of the season and uninterruptedly since he won on Saturday in Berlin. The New Zealander had the title in hand, but a mistake on the penultimate lap in Portland, gave all his rivals a chance.

Evans has come very close in the last three years. The New Zealander was on the final podium with a second in 2022 and a third in 2023. Now, he comes second going into the final event in 2024, tied on points with Wehrlein.

Wehrlein arrives in London with the same points as Evans, but not on as positive a trend as the Australian. The German has struggled since winning in Misano and has only scored one podium finish in Shanghai since then.

For his part, Da Costa arrives as the rider of the moment, with three consecutive victories. If he had not been disqualified in Misano, he would have been in the fight, but that peculiar irregularity together with the very difficult start of the year leaves him fourth, 33 points behind.
