The FIM MotoE World Cup is gearing up for a new official season with the confirmation of Michelin as the Championship’s Official Tire Supplier until at least 2024, after the extension of the partnership between the two parties involved.

Michelin has been guiding the competition’s steps since its inception in 2019. MotoE describes the tire manufacturer as the perfect partner to have developed a great competence, both on and off the track, being the right one to fit the championship’s tires for a few additional campaigns.

However, its role goes beyond supplying the tires. The sustainability commitment is also present through the materials employed, delivering a final product aligned with the main objective of the two-wheeled electrified competition.

The front tires are composed from recycled and bio-based material for up to 33% of their total length, while the rear tires occupy 40%. Lemon peel, orange peel, pine resin, sunflower oil, previously used tires and steel scrap are part of the elements used by Michelin.

“Michelin is investing significantly across all forms of motorsports that emphasize sustainability and forward-thinking technologies. Such series include the FIM MotoE World Cup. For three years (the series) has provided an invaluable laboratory for tire development containing a high proportion of sustainable materials from bio-based, recycled and regenerated sources,” said Maria Esperanza Gaspar Aguilon, Senior Vice President of Michelin.

On the other hand, Dorna is pleased to have reached an agreement to continue working together, as Marc Saurina, Senior Director of Commercial Partnerships, sees it. “We are very proud to confirm that Michelin will continue as tire supplier for MotoE. Since the Cup began, close competition has been a calling card for the series and Michelin is a cornerstone of that, with exceptional performance. Their proven commitment to greater sustainability is also vital to the series, and a perfect fit for the Cup.”
