The Swiss Edoardo Mortara continued the trend of the Formula E campaign and became the new winner of an E-Prix for the electric single-seater series.
The Autodromo “Miguel E. Abed” in Puebla saw how the Venturi rider is now the leader of the competition after a tight duel with one of the protagonists of the weekend, Pascal Wehrlein who finished in second place.
Wehrlein progressively lagged behind and finished the grand prize under investigation for possible excess energy use, compromising his box in Puebla for the second day in a row. Notably, the German was disqualified from Saturday’s first E-Prix due to a technical failure of his Porsche team.
For his part, Mortara took advantage of the inconveniences to complete a clean race and take his second race in Formula E, a record that he shares with his team, Venturi.
With the victory of the Swiss, now the Dutchman Robin Frijns is positioned with 62 points, 10 behind Mortara while the current defender, António Felix da Costa is third with 60.
Oliver Rowland was the one who took the Pole Position but an early activation of his second “Attack Mode” made him lose the first place of the race in the first few passages. Despite finishing fourth, by getting the pole, he gained three more units.

Norman Nato and Oliver Turvey had to abandon the joust; the first due to an incident and the second due to a transmission problem. In that sense, Nyck de Vries, who had the chance to get on the podium, was left out after a collision with the winner of the first Puebla E-Prix, Lucas di Grassi.
Nick Cassidy, advancing positions (he started in eighth place) was in charge of getting 15 units for the Envisión Virgin Racing cause completing the podium on Mexican soil.
Mercedes breathes
Regarding the constructors’ championship, Mercedes continues to lead the category despite not having added a point in the second race of the “Miguel E. Abed” Autodrome. However, DS Techeetah and Jaguar Racing have accumulated units and are three and four points behind the German brand, respectively.
The electric action will return to action on the American continent in two weeks (July 10 and 11) with the double event to be held in Brooklyn, New York that will complete rounds 10 and 11 of the seventh season.
