At the 2024 E-Prix SUN Minimeal Berlin, the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT will become the new Safety Car of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

The new Taycan Turbo GT was first unveiled earlier this year as the most powerful production Porsche of all time, achieving record lap times at the Nürburgring and Laguna Seca.

Starting with the E-Prix SUN Minimeal Berlin 2024, to be held from May 11 to 12, two variants in two different colors will become the new Safety Car of the championship and a backup in case of need.

Full Power

Equipped with the optional Weissach package, the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT achieves impressive acceleration from 0 to 60 MPH in just 2.2 seconds and reaches a remarkable top speed of 190 MPH.

Its innovative ATTACK MODE is based directly on Formula E technology, as seen in all GEN3 machines, including the World Championship-winning Porsche 99X Electric.

With ATTACK MODE enabled, the car receives a temporary boost of up to 120 kW of additional power.

Of the two new FIA Formula E Formula E Safety Cars, one will feature the enhanced Weissach package, which includes a rear spoiler and no rear seats, and the other will feature the standard package without the additional rear spoiler, as well as two front and two rear seats.

Like the pioneering approach behind Porsche’s Formula E race car, the Porsche 99X Electric, the Taycan Turbo GT was developed at Porsche’s R&D facility in Weissach, which operates on a net carbon-neutral basis.

Supervision and maintenance of the vehicles will continue under the expertise of Porsche’s Manthey specialists at the Nürburgring, responsible for implementing the necessary adaptations. These improvements range from warning lights and electrical systems to state-of-the-art communication equipment and fire extinguishers.

At the wheel of the FIA Formula E Formula E Safety Car, expert FIA driver Bruno Correia will continue to drive with precision and expertise.

The TAG Heuer Formula E Team is contesting its fifth Formula E season in season 10 alongside the U.S. Andretti Formula E Team, both with the Porsche 99X Electric.
