Bielstein, Germany 8 September 2024 – A new day dawned in Bielstein with 8 laps in a clockwise direction. This set the stage for the season’s fourth WES UCI E-MTB XC World Cup race, where rain threatened but never actually fell at MSC Drabenderhöhe.

The riders had to tackle the same circuit but in reverse from Saturday. During the Qualirace, Anna Spielmann (Haibike) and Jérôme Gilloux (Lapierre Overvolt) took the spotlight with the Raspini Pole Position.

Spielmann extends her World Cup lead

Once again, the Austrian rider from Haibike and Jeroen van Eck (GHOST Bikes Racing Team) had the fastest starts, claiming all the Santero Holeshots at Bielstein.

Spielmann’s blue and pink bike led the entire race for a second day in a row, as she crossed the finish line first. This victory extends her lead in the World Cup overall standings heading into Spa-Francorchamps.

Jacqueline Mariarcher (SPORT AUER RACING TEAM) secured another second-place finish, while Solene Bouissou (Team Oise Organisation) was third.

Gilloux bounces back

After taking second place in Race 1, the World Champion was determined to return to the top of the podium. However, it wasn’t an easy task, as he had to fend off strong competition from Mirko Tabacchi (Leynicese RDR Italia Factory Team) and Joris Ryf (Specialized).

Jérôme Gilloux

The Swiss Champ was eager to win again, but the battle with Tabacchi and Gilloux was fierce. After such an intense fight with changing positions, the Specialized rider finished second, while the Italian Champ secured third place.

What’s next?

The excitement is far from over. After two days of racing, the World Cup heads to Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, for the second part of a high-level back-to-back event. On September 11-12, the world’s top riders will give it their all at the legendary Formula 1 circuit.
