Will Smith is diving into a fresh domain with the launch of his team, Westbrook Racing, in the E1 Series—the pioneering global event for all-electric powerboat racing. This move marks the actor’s foray into the competition for its inaugural season, utilizing his global entertainment company’s name as a nod.

Their maiden voyage in the series is set for this weekend (May 11th and 12th) at the Venice E1 Grand Prix, making a splash in the City of Water. Across the globe, nine teams will vie for victory, from Jeddah to Monaco to Hong Kong.

The actor’s investment in an E1 team places him alongside NFL icon Tom Brady, Rafael Nadal, Steve Aoki, Didier Drogba, Marcelo Claure, Virat Kohli, Sergio Pérez, and Marc Anthony.

This latest addition to the roster echoes E1’s mission to drive sustainability in maritime mobility. Leveraging his massive social media following of over 265 million, Smith aims to spotlight electric sports and sustainable mobility, underscoring the collective aspiration for a greener tomorrow.

On the water, Westbrook Racing will be captained by Lucas Ordoñez, a GT Academy victor with extensive experience in Le Mans, SuperGT, and Formula 3, and Sara Price, a force to be reckoned with, boasting 17 national motocross championships along with accolades in Extreme E, X Games, and the Rally Dakar.

“As a fan of racing, the opportunity to be part of the E1 fleet and play a role in realizing its broader vision got me very inspired. The entire Westbrook team is truly excited to bring Westbrook Racing to the water and join such an amazing group for this race”, said Will Smith.

“Will Smith is simply one of the most famous names on the planet. He’s shown throughout his career he is a born winner, so we are incredibly excited to see how this transitions to racing on the water. He’s also time and again proven himself as an inspirational force for good in a multitude of ways”, said Rodi Basso, E1 Series CEO and Co-founder.
