Formula E team ABT confirmed its entry with newly registered propulsion system manufacturer Lola Cars, which is currently developing together with Yamaha Motor Company in a technical partnership.

After a brief hiatus, ABT rejoined the ABB FIA Formula E ABB World Championship in 2023 for season 10 alongside CUPRA as a partner, equipped with a Mahindra Racing propulsion system.

Since then, the contract with Mahindra was terminated by mutual agreement and will end at the end of the current season. ABT now adopts a new alliance, partnering with legendary motorsports brand Lola Cars, with Yamaha Motor as its technical partner for software and powertrain development.

Highly Engineered

Preparations for the upcoming launch are underway at Lola and Yamaha, with software enhancements and hardware testing in progress on the test bench.

Inaugural on-track testing of the propulsion system is scheduled for June. Formula E highlights in press release that further updates will be revealed in the coming months, including the introduction of a lead partner, additional sponsors, team structure and nomenclature, driver lineup and car design.

This development coincides with Lola Cars’ recent announcement of its return to global motorsport through a long-term technical partnership with Yamaha Motor Company, beginning in season 11.

Recognized for its rich history with more than 500 championship wins, Lola Cars, together with Yamaha, is striving to design and supply a formidable propulsion system for competition in the pioneering all-electric single-seater racing series.
