The development of electromobility does not stand still, and this has been demonstrated by Bosch after taking the opportunity to present the 230 Electric Power Unit during Motor Bella 2021, specially designed to meet the needs of medium-sized and even large vehicles, such as vans and trucks.
The voltage rating of the Bosch 230 is 800 volts, available with continuous power ratings between 204 and 313 horsepower (150-230 kWh). Now, one of the most interesting aspects of this new creation is the possibility of combining it with an inverter with silicon carbide (SiC) technology to increase electrical conductivity and reduce heat losses. In other words, the motor can provide greater efficiency; and the company claims it can reach 99% of capacity.
The engineers in charge of this new motor paid special attention to the performance offered along with the compact design, since it must be integrated into rigid electric axles, the same type of axle used in industrial vehicles. The technology employed has been fork-winding on the stator, choosing a mixed cooling system (water and oil).

The combination between Bosch and sustainable electric mobility seems to be one of the most favorable actions supporting this green development, as the company plans to invest around 700 million euros, representing 40% more compared to the money they had available in 2020.
