After the first green flag of ABB FIA Formula E season 8 on Friday, the stage was fully set for Round 2 of the Diriyah E-Prix, where Edoardo Mortara brought his talent and experience to lead ROKiT Venturi Racing to its first victory of the new campaign.
Dutchman Robin Frijns came in second, while the other ROKiT man, Lucas di Grassi, completed the podium in the Middle East completing the first weekend of the 100% electric single-seater category, and inaugurating what will be a real battle with several title favorites competing on tracks.
Brazilian driver di Grassi made a great maneuver against Nick de Vries, Round 1 winner in Saudi Arabia, where his teammate also benefited. However, at the end there was a bit of calm after the entry of Porsche Taycan Safety Car, which entered after the collision against Alexander Sims (Mahindra Racing).

One of the main protagonists at Round 1, Stoffel Vandoorne, made his own quietly after starting to climb from 12th position to seventh place, to get back into points and raise Mercedes-EQ’s production at the opening round, recalling that on Friday he arrived second, behind his teammate (de Vries).
In fact, de Vries was relegated to tenth place, the last one to pick up points. Thus, Edoardo Mortara leads the overall drivers’ standings, just four points ahead of the Dutch driver from Mercedes-EQ, although the action, excitement and adrenaline of Formula E has just begun.
Now, the single-seater action will move to American territory, as next February 12 will be held the E-Prix of Mexico, where Edoardo Mortara, Nick de Vries and company will race on the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.
