In the start of the seventh season of Formula E, Alejandro Agag, founder and representative of the series, pointed out that the competition will be merged with Formula 1 in the future.
“Formula 1 and Formula E should be converging, because in the end the only technology that is going to prevail is electrical technology, either batteries or hydrogen, and both are within the license we have with the FIA.
Alejandro Agag told to Diario Marca
About the comparisons between the two competitions, Agag said that as president of Formula E he would love to have the budget of Formula 1 since the difference between the construction of the cars is high.

“Give me 50 million and I’ll build you a Formula E car that holds up to an F1 perfectly, but of course, ours costs is a million,” he said while adding that it would be interesting to place the vehicles side by side to test acceleration from both.
Changes in the industry
Agag explains that the way the industry has changed has been “incredible and fast” as there are more and more races that do not emit carbon dioxide.
“Five years ago nobody would have imagined that brands like GM in 2035 will no longer make combustion cars or governments like the British who say that in 2030 no more combustion cars are sold. But it is that in 10 years we will see combustion cars as antiques.

Hard to start the championship
Despite the pandemic situation, the founder of Formula E appreciated the support of Saudi Arabia (host country of the first two races in Diriyah) to start the series. “It has been very, very difficult and it is a great achievement to start. It was our highest ambition. It will be a difficult season but at least we know it will exist,” he said.
