As is customary during recent tournaments, Formula E will have a special day to give new talents the opportunity to showcase themselves and aspire to be part of the series in the short term.
The official rookie test of Season 9 is scheduled for Monday, April 24, after the race weekend of Rounds 7 and 8 in Berlin.
The test will feature a host of new faces stepping into the Gen3 single-seaters for the first time, which promise to liven up the electrified category in the near future.

Fresh Faces
Formula 2 driver and the team’s test and reserve driver David Beckmann is one of the racers to watch. Beckmann already held a reserve seat in season 8 with Avalanche Andretti before being hired by the Porsche factory team.
“To be able to drive the Porsche 99X Electric in Berlin just a few days before my birthday is a great gift,” Beckmann said. “For me, it’s a fantastic experience to enter the new era of Formula E with Porsche this season.
On the other hand, the tests will see the talented Yifiei Ye, a former Renault F1 Junior driver and multiple European Le Mans Series champion, racing. He has also performed successfully in single-seaters in French F4 and Euroformula Open.
The Chinese driver says he is “very grateful” for the dream opportunity from Porsche.
“I always wanted to drive a Formula E car and I am grateful that Porsche is giving me that opportunity. For me, this is an interesting new challenge that I am very excited to participate in. In advance, I will follow the races in Berlin closely from the pit lane and try to learn as much as possible from Antonio and Pascal,” he added.
The attractive day on April 24 will also see Jack Aitken, Zane Maloney and Linus Lundqvist on the track as the best-rated prospects in the Formula E orbit for the coming seasons.
