The 2021 season of the MotoE World Cup started with a good level of competitiveness last weekend in Jeréz, Spain, but it also left pleasant technological additions that make the tournament even more attractive.
This is the case with the launch of the JuiceRoll Race Edition, a new charging infrastructure designed and developed by Enel X, official sponsor of the electric motorcycle series.
Enel X explains that the JuiceRoll Race Edition is a high-tech tournament charger with internal storage and two interconnect units: the semi-mobile unit (SMU) and the mobile unit (MU). They detail that the device is capable of carrying out a motorcycle charge in approximately 40 minutes.
Commitment to championship technology
“We are proud to launch a new smart charger for the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup, underscoring our commitment to develop innovative technologies for eMotorsports,” stated Francesco Venturini, CEO of Enel X.
“This state-of-the-art device requires less power from the grid thanks to its embedded storage system, while ensuring more energy for the race through a mobile charging unit that can top up the bikes also in the starting grid,” he pointed.

Venturini sees electric motorsports as a laboratory for smart charging technologies, “with the aim to bring innovation from the racetrack to the street. We develop solutions to make motorsports more sustainable, while maintaining the same level of performance and competitiveness,”he added.
Robust infrastructure
The mobile unit of the network presented by Enel X is made up of a 10-kW charger and an integrated storage system of 51 kWh, which allows the unit to charge the motorcycles both in the pit lane and on the starting grid. Specifically, the MU facilitates a seven-minute final load on the starting grid, which makes the bikes cover a greater distance than in previous seasons.
For its part, the semi-mobile unit is located in the cargo area and has an integrated storage of 51kWh. It also has 60 bifacial solar panels and thanks to this integral system, the grid energy during charging periods is reduced to between 4 and 5 Kw.
JuiceRoll Race Edition can supply motorcycles with up to 1 MW between 20 chargers, so it only needs 100 kW from solar panels. If necessary, the chargers can work without connection to the grid using batteries, thanks to which they can compensate for any power failure or grid blackout and still recharge the motorcycles safely.

Another notable feature is that the mobile unit allows the tire warmers to be powered both in the ePaddock, in the pit lane and on the starting grid and during transfers between these areas, since keeping the tires warm is essential for optimal performance motorcycle.
Similarly, it is important to point out that the system as a whole is monitored and controlled remotely, allowing the energy loads to be managed to optimize the electricity supply of the network.
