Women continue getting ground in motorsport, and in this case, Formula E welcomes one of the most prestigious drivers of recent times.
This is Alice Powell, who will join Envision Virgin Racing as a simulation driver. The Briton recently triumphed in the Women’s Series Grand Prix held in England, and now she will demonstrate all her talent in the electric single-seater category.
It is not the first time she flirts with Formula E, as in 2020 Powell was already with the same team performing tests in Marrakech, alongside Nick Cassidy, Super GT and Super Formula champion. In 2021, she was ready to compete at the rookie test in Valencia, but it was cancelled.
New Challenge Motivation
“I already worked with some of the guys when I did my rookie test in 2020 and I’m super excited to be part of such a fantastic team. I’ve seen how hard everyone works at the factory and having this opportunity to help the team, which also has a great driver line-up,” Powell said.

“We have a great car and drivers, and I’m very proud to be able to support the team on the simulator and to contribute to the results,” she also added after hearing the news.
Open Arms Welcome
Envision Virgin Racing CEO Sylvain Filippi said, “I am delighted to welcome Alice to the team, we have already seen her performance and what she has to offer during her rookie test with us and we are very happy to have her on board.”
“She brings a lot of skill, determination and fantastic experience behind the wheel. I have no doubt she will be a very valuable asset to us, and the team is looking forward to work with her,” he added.
Powell has a significant track record in her career. She competed in one round of Formula E’s Race at Home Challenge, an e-sports series set up during COVID-19’s crisis peak to fill in for the lack of real-world competition.
The Brit was also part of the Formula E support bill, racing on the Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy in both the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons and earned a number of podium finishes.
