This weekend, the action of Extreme E returns with everything to debut on European soil and give continuity to the first season of Extreme E, an absolute sensation, with just three events contested. There, Cristina Gutierrez on board her ODYSSEY 21 of the X44 team, is a strong candidate for the title, along with his teammate Sébastien Loeb.
Next weekend, the seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton’s organization will arrive to Sardinia for the Enel Island X Prix, where they will clearly fight side by side against Molly Taylor and Johan Kristoffersson of Rosberg X Racing, their main rivals in their quest to be crowned as the first to win the 100% electric rally category.
Now, to learn more about the protagonists, Extreme E spoke with Gutierrez during a fun Q&A where she detailed several important aspects of the competition, both personally and professionally. One of the topics she talked about was X44’s great performance this season.
“… We expected to do as well as we have done, but with a new championship like this and completely different terrain at every race, it was very hard to predict. I think we would have liked to win a final, but luck hasn’t been on our side so far, hopefully Sardinia will be the weekend where we can make it happen.”

One of the factors for the success of her team so far is having an experienced and talented champion like Frenchman Loeb. “Sébastien is incredibly fast, but he’s also an expert in handling the car; he works very closely with the team on strategy and things like that, so I try to assimilate everything he says and put it into practice myself.”
Also, her experience behind the wheel of the ODYSSEY 21 has been very similar to what she has done so far. In fact, Gutierrez assures that “the feeling hasn’t been that different”, although they have had to adapt to new regulations, and therefore, all the limitations involved on that aspect. However, she is confident that the car will be more powerful and faster in the upcoming seasons.
