The successful path achieved by Jordi Torres with PONS Racing team in MotoE, by winning two World Championships in the electric category, earned him a juicy contract renewal.

In his record, apart from the two world titles, Torres has achieved two victories, eight podiums and six pole positions in 14 races. With the signing of the new agreement, the Spaniard will once again fight from the start to become the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup champion for the third time in a row.

“I am very happy to announce my renewal with PONS Racing for the next season in the MotoE World Cup. I want to thank Sito Pons for giving me the opportunity to race in this great team, with which we have already become champions in 2020 and 2021,” said Torres.

He made special mention to the technicians, mechanics and the rest of the team members for the great work that has led him to the top of the electric motorcycle series.

Torres assured that he feels strong and ready to fight for a new title and highlighted the growth that MotoE has had in such a short time, a tournament in which he would like to remain for many more years.

Casadei Joins the Team

Italian Mattia Casadei, who was with Paolo Simoncelli’s Ongetta SIC58 team until the 2021 season, is taking a new direction to join Torres at PONS Racing.

Casadei, only 22 years old, will face his fourth season in MotoE, a race in which he has six podiums and finished sixth in the overall standings last season.

PONS Racing will give him the necessary tools to continue his evolution as a rider, and to take a step forward that will allow him to be one of the main players in the category.

“I am very happy to join a team as strong as this and with so much history. They have always had good drivers, references and are the current champions of the category, I am very motivated to achieve great results, “said Mattia.

A Competitive Plan

Sito Pons, Team Director, expressed his pride at the presentation of the sporting project for next season. “Since this new category of sustainable and electric motorcycles was born, we understood that it is the future and our bet has always been to win, and we have proved it, with two consecutive titles together with Jordi Torres.”

He pointed out that extending the Spaniard’s contract puts them into an unbeatable position to continue reaping success in the innovative motorcycling World Championship, endorsed by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme.

About Casadei’s arrival, Pons emphasized that it is very important, since he is a young, fast rider who is already among the best in the category and is sure that he will bring them many joys.

“With both of them, we have a very competitive sporting project to continue being the referents of MotoE and I would like to thank our sponsors for their support, since thanks to them it is possible. Together we will enjoy a good year,” concluded Pons.
