Sharon Fuller, a sports content specialist, is one of the new acquisitions announced by the soon-to-be-released eSkootr Championship (eSC) electric scooter series.
The British woman, who has won major awards such as the “One Watch”, which recognizes the most influential women in sport, arrives to the category to boost communications and lead media strategy, a vital factor for a Championship that has just begun and is looking to establish its position among fans.
In her new role, Fuller will oversee all content creation, distribution and media partnerships, and also will manage and work with influencers and production partners.
Emmy nominated Fuller has more than 20 years of sports broadcasting experience, beginning in radio in her hometown of Norwich, and advancing through managerial roles, at a small production company, for projects such as Moto GP and International Soccer.
She took a big career leap when she was hired by BBC Sport as a Production Executive on Formula One, the Olympics and then as Project Leader on the organization’s Get Inspired campaign, which involved overseeing all strategy and objectives, finance, marketing and audience research, digital, social and on-air content strategy.
She also co-founded the successful Couch to 5k Program, which garnered several awards, including the Sports Technology Award for Best Technology to Promote Engagement in 2016.
Under Fuller’s leadership, the BBC doubled the number of live sports transmissions, earning, among other accolades, the Cannes Content Innovation Awards and Digital TV Europe 2018 for Best Live Broadcasting Initiative.
After his successful time at the English network, Fuller joined Red Bull, not only working on sports content, but also on culture, video games and music. She was responsible for managing the company’s live broadcasts, event production, rights acquisition and marketing.
Inclusive and Valuable Content
Fuller’s personal passion for greater diversity in sports is aligned with eSC’s impetus to be a completely gender-neutral tournament.
Previously, the communications specialist has pushed for equality of female representation in comparison to her male counterparts. She has mentored female athletes as part of Women’s Sport Trust initiatives, and also has personally led women’s cycling to more parity by being involved with the Matrix Pro Cycling team. She is also a founding board member of the Professional Sports Leadership Corps.
A New Challenge at eSC
In her role as Content Director, Fuller will have a key role in shaping the eScootr Championship’s multi-faceted, multi-platform content and communications strategy, that will go beyond traditional sport.
Providing expertise across the Championship’s various platforms, she will lead everything to be published across the networks and oversee all content. On her arrival, she is determined to incorporate diversity and neutrality requirements within the rise of micro-mobility
“It’s a rare opportunity for me to help propel a movement with so many facets appealing to your personal and professional passions,” Fuller said.
“I’m thrilled to join a company with vision and ambition from core to technology, financial accessibility, innovation and sustainability, all enhanced by what sports can bring to the table. I am excited about what we will achieve together,” she said.
Hrag Sarkissian, co-founder and CEO of eSkootr Championship expressed his delight at Fuller’s arrival to the organization. “We are thrilled to have Sharon joining our incredible team. With her content-driven approach, she brings a great experience to eSC, and we are looking forward to build a strong platform,” he concluded.
