Debuting in a category is always a great feeling for drivers, however, starting a new racing chapter with victory would be a dream come true. That’s what Philipp Eng experienced in Copenhagen, Denmark, aboard his Romeo Ferraris-M1RA after dominating the race weekend on the European track.

The rookie Pure ETCR sensation was in sync behind the wheel to show dominating driving in the DHL SuperFinal B, despite constant pressure from rivals, to pay heartfelt tribute to his entire team after experiencing the loss of a member, Aldo Cerruti, key researcher in the organization’s project in the first 100% electric passenger car category.

“It was a great weekend. The car has been very good and I am very happy for the whole team, who have been through a lot with the passing of Aldo recently. Having Luca (Filppi) in P2 over the weekend is also amazing for the entire Romeo Ferraris-M1RA team. It was a lot of fun”, Eng said after speaking with post-race press.

Luca Filppi also shone with his own light in the DHL Super Final A battling Jean-Karl Vernay (Hyundai Motorsport N) and Mattias Ekström (CUPRA X Zengo Motorsport), containing the Swede who seemed to have the victory assured, but ultimately the Italian won the Danish track.

Philipp Eng and Mattias Ekström: Head to Head

Philipp Eng showed all his talent in his first Pure ETCR race, ensuring that he will be a key competitor for the rest of the season, and for sure, in the next editions. However, Mattias Ekström also does his thing on board his CUPRA X Zengo Motorsport. Now, despite not having been able to triumph this weekend, the Swede continues to lead the general standings.

Finally, all the excitement of the Pure ETCR will move to the Hungaroring circuit (Hungary) on August 20, 21 and 22, known for hosting Formula 1 and other categories, to begin defining the final stretch of the championship that remains to be disputed this recently mentioned quote and then race in Korea.
