Scuderia Ferrari has announced its decision to join the F1 Academy championship from 2024, an all-female single-seater competition conceived by Formula 1 with the aim of boosting female talent in motorsport.

Next season, each of the ten Formula 1 teams will field a car on the F1 Academy grid. In the case of Scuderia Ferrari, this car will wear the Ferrari Driver Academy colors and will be driven by one of its promising female drivers.

Two young women are currently under the Academy’s tutelage: Maya Weug from the Netherlands and Aurelia Nobel from Brazil. These two promising drivers emerged from the Women in Motorsport Commission’s “Girls on Track-Rising Stars” initiative.

In that initiative, the Ferrari Driver Academy plays a crucial role as the main partner. Thus, the fourth iteration of this talent identification program is scheduled to take place at the end of 2023, where the winner will have the opportunity to join the ranks of the FDA.

About F1 Academy

Launched in 2023, the F1 Academy represents a female-only driver division with the goal of fostering the growth and preparation of young female drivers to progress to higher levels of competition, including Formula 3, Formula 2 and Formula 1.

The grid is comprised of fifteen cars, fielded by five experienced teams currently competing in the F2 and F3 categories.

For the inaugural season, a calendar has been designed consisting of seven events, each with three races scheduled, where in total 21 races will be held, accompanied by fifteen days of official testing.
