Extreme E is getting ready for the second round of the season in Sardinia, Italy, a familiar territory for the category after racing there in the debut campaign. However, the Desert X Prix left several sensations on the table before jumping off the track, and one of them was the incident between Carlos Sainz and Nasser Al-Attiyah.
Two acquaintances from the Dakar Rally met again on a demanding circuit, but this time within the 100% electric off-road category. A fight between the two ended with a collision between their vehicles, which sparked many comments: Who was at fault, why did it happen, and so on.
The images provided by the official broadcast show everything that happened. Nasser Al-Attiyah goes all out towards Carlos Sainz causing the strong impact between them. However, what happened goes beyond that, because while some are focused on finding the culprits, they may not exist.

First of all, the ACCIONA | Sainz XE Team driver advances along the ideal racing line, in fact, the Spaniard was the victim in all that happened. Many charged against the Cupra driver, although, before impacting against the red and white vehicle, it is clearly seen how his ODYSSEY 21 lifts up and loses control of itself after rolling on two wheels and ending up hitting his rival.
Of course, theoretically, the one to blame is Al-Attiyah, who goes wide of the ideal track and ends up crashing into Sainz at high speed after not having the power of the vehicle in his own hands. This is probably how the race stewards saw it, as in the end he was penalized for making contact with the flag and not for hitting the Spaniard.
Now, the two will meet again in Sardinia, when the Extreme E action moves to Italy to continue the second season of the electrified off-road division. Will they cross paths on track again?
