Chip Ganassi, owner of the Chip Ganassi Racing team, highlighted the nascent electric series todorreno, Extreme E and explained the reason for accepting the invitation of founder Alejandro Agag to join the competition.
“I like racing. I met Alejandro (Agag) years ago, when he started his previous category (in reference to Formula E), I wanted to do this and had to decide between this program or another, and we ended up going the other way,” he said.
Ganassi explained that when Agag called him again, the former driver said that he was not going to miss the opportunity and decided to enter Extreme E. “If Alejandro is organizing, I want to be part of it,” he added.

He also details that they are currently learning a lot due to the amount of information that must be processed about the new series.
For Ganassi with 30 years of racing experience, being part of the Extreme E since its inaugural season is something that he described as exciting as well as participating with representative characters of motorsport.
“Having Nico Rosberg, Lewis Hamilton, David Richards, Sébastien Loeb and Carlos Sainz … you compare yourself to the best and that’s why we are here,” continued the American leader.
Why Sara Price and Kyle Leduc?
Ganassi commented that the choice of the two drivers for the team he leads is due to their experience in the off-road categories and their championships.
“They are not stuck in a mold; they are not old dogs that cannot learn new tricks. They have an open mind about the car, electricity and the environment. I think they fit perfectly into what we were looking for,”he said.
After racing the X-Prix of the AlUla desert, the Ganassi team is in eighth position with 11 units and they hope to approach the top of the championship on May 29-30 at the Pink Lake of Senegal where it will be played the second X-Prix in the series.
It should be noted that Chip Ganassi’s team has several achievements in American motorsports such as 13 titles in Indy, four victories in the Indianapolis 500, in addition to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, World Endurance Championship, Rally and Nascar.
