German Electric Kart Championship celebrates Grand Finale this Weekend

From September 10 to 12, the 2021 Season Grand Finale of the German Electric Kart Championship (DEKM) will take place, where drivers will leave everything on the track to achieve glory.

Arena E of the German municipality Mülsen, Saxony, will be the venue for the decisive stage, where four racers still have a shot at the title.

For the second time this season, the DEKM travels to Mülsen. Back in July, the innovative race series was held on the 1,315-meter-long track, as part of the Rotax MAX Challenge Germany, and now returns to Saxony for the denouement of the competition.

The Fight Remains Open

The battle for the crown promises an interesting day. The race is led by Oscar Pellemele (191 points), followed by Finland’s Aleksi Jalava (157 points) and both Dutch drivers, Jens van der Heijden (131 points) and Luca Nieuwenhuizen (130 points).

Pellemele, the leader, proved to be the strongest rider throughout the season, leading in every race, but nothing has been decided yet. The three worst pre-final and final results are eliminated for the final calculation, meaning that some changes are still possible in the close standings.

For his part, Nieuwenhuizen showed his preference for the track not far from Zwickau at his first appearance in July. There, the tulip celebrated his first career victory at the DEKM in Mülsen, and thereby laid the groundwork for getting into the fight. He now has the chance to win the Championship as the first Dutch driver in history to do so.

The winner of the final DEKM event has a number of prizes up for grabs. Tournament partner Porsche Motorsport will invite the winner to an exclusive test on a Formula E simulator, as part of a behind-the-scenes day at the Porsche Development Center in Weissach.

In addition, an Arai karting helmet voucher from Point Racing will be presented to the winner. Furthermore, technology partner BRP-Rotax will award a very special prize: the winner will receive one of the most coveted positions on the grid for the Grand Final of the Rotax MAX Challenge 2021 in Bahrain.

The event will be streamed live on Saturday and Sunday with the qualifying stages, as well as the pre-final and final on www.dekm.de.
