The luxury car manufacturer brand Porsche will promote an ambitious plan to install electric car chargers in Mexico, both its own and in partnership with other companies in the next two to three years.
“With the current infrastructure and cooperation with other brands, we are very positive about the country, we have an ambitious plan to electrify the Mexican market for the next two to three years,” said George Wills, CEO of the firm in Latin America.
Porsche, which is part of the Volkswagen Group, reported that hybrid cars represented 11 percent of the total cars sold by the company in the Latin American region, hence the importance of this car charger strategy.

Lutz Meschke, vice president and member of the Board of Directors of Porsche AG responsible for Finance and Information Technology, said that they are working on expanding their portfolio and better integrating electric cars.
“This 2021 is a dynamic year, we continue to see the future of electricity and digital transformation, sustainability is part of the fundamental strategy (…) we are betting on more technology, on electric vehicles,” explained.
About the problem in the supply of semiconductors in global car manufacturing, Meschke said that this is still under control in the company, but they are still attentive to this situation.
“This situation is under control, we do not expect that to delay sales, but we are analyzing the situation very closely,” said Meschke.
