As the Extreme E drivers accelerated their Odyssey 21s in the inaugural Extreme E race in the Al-Ula desert, large clouds of dust interfered with each driver’s vision, making it quite complicated that there was some type of overtaking.
That is why the next race that will take place in Lac Rose, Senegal, will represent an ideal opportunity to test the maximum power and agility of the drivers’ grid, which this time will have to deal with wet sand and much heavier.
In this regard, the winner of the Desert X-Prix, Molly Taylor, said that the members of her squad (Rosberg Extreme Racing, RXR), have been analyzing the data obtained in Al Ula. “We will try to have two victories out of two,” she pointed out.
On the other hand, the driver of the X44 team, Sébastien Loeb, is already working hard to surpass the results of Arabi Arabia.
“The Ocean X Prix will be a totally new terrain, and we have an incredible group of people working with us to tackle it. I’m excited to go to Senegal and fight for a win again,” Loeb said.

The Ocean E-Prix will start with the RXR team at the top of the table with 35 points, five more than their main pursuer X44. In third place is the Andretti United team with 28 units.
It is important to mention that the teams have not been able to pre-test their respective Odyssey 21s, since the electric SUVs were on board in the ST. Helena, ship in charge of mobilizing all the logistics of Extreme E.
It is expected that in the next few days the 9 confirmed squads will make use of their cars and therefore accelerate on the test circuits.
Format to be announced
A few days before the opening race, the Extreme E board announced that, due to the large clouds of dust that were being kicked up by the cars, the format was going to undergo structural changes. Thus, the races of day 1 (Saturday) became individual events against the clock, instead of group; while the second day (Sunday) the semifinals and final would be in groups of three respectively.
Taking into account that the conditions of the circuit of the X Prix of Senegal do not seem to show signs of problems, it is likely that a new scheme will be announced in the next few hours.
