The American E-Kart Championship is a sustainable motorsport category that serves as the first 100% electrified karting division in North America, with the particularity that anyone can compete and become a champion in the best style of professional drivers.

The competition is endorsed by the World Karting Association (WKA), which in turn is part of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the highest governing body of motor sports worldwide, indicating the future projection that the American E-Kart Championship has in mind.

Applicants who wish to be part of these races are attended by the staff, once they submit their application, then proceed to explain the rules to finally provide the vehicle along with the necessary equipment with which they will run on equal terms, since no kart appears with high performance to the rest.

Throughout the United States, this karting category has several scenarios that are adapted to the needs and demands of the competition to provide the greatest possible comfort, as well as the safety levels required by the entities mentioned above.

The organization has provided a purse of more than $40,000 dollars to be distributed among the different winners, given that the winner of each race gets a cash prize of $10,000 dollars, the second place winner gets $2,500 dollars and the third place winner gets $1,000 dollars. Similarly, cash prizes are also handed out in the qualifying rounds.

“What makes this series special is that everyone who participates has an equal chance to win. It’s not about sponsors or having the best engine program. Everyone drives the same karts on the same tracks, and anyone who is old enough and tall enough to drive a kart can enter,” said Donald Wagner, Commissioner of the American E-Kart Championship.

American E-Kart Championship Objective

Wagner affirms that the category’s goal is to make racing accessible to everyone, recalling that world-class figures such as Lewis Hamilton started out in karting, which could open the door to a new motorsports star, while promoting sustainable behaviors and actions through electrification.

Beginnings of the American E-Kart Championship

American E-Kart Championship began in 2018 to write a new chapter in motorsports, touring several states in the United States in search of the most skilled drivers who were able to bring the category to life. So it went until 2021 when they were set to race in Jacksonville, but due to the resurgence of COVID-19, the competition was momentarily halted with the possibility of racing again in January 2022.
