The Extreme E Season 2 is getting closer. One of the similarities with the inaugural campaign will be the kick-off of a new battle at NEOM in Saudi Arabia, where Rosberg X Racing will start the defense of the title.
The NEOM deserts will once again host the ODYSSEYs from the 100% electric off-road category. This location is shaping up to be the city of the future. To this end, Saudi Arabia is committed to promoting sustainability through Vision 2030, a project seeking to reduce dependence on fossil fuels impacting the planet.
Therefore, having Extreme E at your location strengthens the objectives of the region. Highly qualified competitors get into an electric vehicle with the intention of competing, but most importantly to convey a message of awareness to inspire a change of attitude in people, adopting sustainable lifestyles and habits.
The project is incredible. 26,500 square kilometers that are being built from scratch, the place will have 95% of its natural environment but incorporating an urban lifestyle with 100% renewable energy, wind and solar. In addition, plans for green hydrogen are also on the table.

“The return of Extreme E to the Kingdom for the second consecutive year helps to further emphasize Saudi Arabia’s commitment to a more sustainable future. Welcoming NEOM to this groundbreaking series aligns with one of the most important goals, and pillars, of Vision 2030,” said Prince Khalid Bin Sultan Al-Abdullah Al-Faisal, Chairman of the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation, and the Saudi Motorsports Company.
On the other hand, Nadhmi Al-Nasr, CEO of NEOM, was also pleased at the goals the two organizations are jointly pursuing. “NEOM has made no secret of its desire to promote sustainability and raise awareness of some of the world’s most pressing challenges, such as climate change and nature conservation. We believe that hosting an innovative racing event like Extreme E in a region dedicated to pioneering clean technology and mobility solutions perfectly manifests our goals.”
