The Extreme E opens the first season on April 4 in Saudi Arabia and will do so by reaffirming their commitment to the environment. For this, the category partnered with the company “3devo” to manufacture the trophies from plastic waste generated by people.
3devo will transform this waste into filaments for 3D printing applications and they will create the scepters, recycling plastic found in nature, especially in the sea.
The Extreme E has already carried out similar initiatives. This is the case of the construction of toilets for about 300 children in Senegal from plastic collected at sea in December 2019.
Catastrophic consequences
The impact of plastic waste is devastating, since two thirds of the plastic produced ends up in the environment – including our oceans – which is equivalent to about 6.3 billion tons.

This is not only due to garbage, but also because plastic is throw away when it could be recycled. These residues cause various problems in the planet’s waters such as ingestion, suffocation and entanglement of hundreds of marine species.
Extreme E hopes to highlight this issue through the power of sport and encourage behavior change.
