Extreme E is preparing for the closing of season 2 in Uruguay, where in addition to defining the championship, a South American driver will compete for the first time in the series after the confirmation of Argentinean Ezequiel Companc by XITE ENERGY Racing.
Companc will partner Tamara Molinaro in the Energy X Prix, scheduled for November 26-27 in Punta del Este. “I am grateful for the opportunity to compete in Extreme E. I am happy to join XITE ENERGY Racing for the last round of the category,” said the Argentinean.
For his part, Alejandro Agag, creator of the series, was also happy to have Ezequiel’s presence in the definition of the second season. “It’s great that Companc will become our first South American driver, bringing more diversity to the Extreme E paddock. I’m sure the fans of the series will closely follow his progress alongside Tamara,” he said.

The First South American Rider in Extreme E
After almost two seasons and 9 races, Ezequiel Companc will become the first driver from South America to race in the 100% electric off-road category, coinciding with the series’ second visit to the continent after having contested the Copper X Prix in Antofagasta, Chile, a few weeks ago.
“It’s an honor to be the first South American driver in the series and to compete in South America so close to my hometown (Buenos Aires), in such a prestigious event, that makes it special for me. Coming from GT Racing, the format, the car and the track designs of this competition will be new for me”, said Companc.
Precisely, the 28-year-old Argentinean has experience in categories such as GT racing, competing in series such as GT World Challenge Europe, formerly known as Blancpain GT Series, and ADAC GT Masters. “I’m looking forward to learning from my experienced teammate Tamara (Molinaro) and my engineer, with whom I’ve already started preparing for the Energy X Prix,” he concluded.
