At the second Extreme E X Prix disputed in Senegal on May 29-30, veteran JBXE team owner, Jenson Button, gave the go-ahead to young Kevin Hansen to take his place behind the wheel of the Odyssey 21, while he took over the squad’s management.
Hansen teamed up with his Swedish team mate Mikaela Ahlin-Kottulinsky, to finish fourth in the race, ensuring third place in the overall standings with 44 points, behind Rosberg Xtreme Racing (71pts) and X44 (57 pts).
Now, a few hours away from driving at the first Off-Road Electric SUV competition, the driver also known for being Timmy Hansen’s brother, keeps hope alive to have a good weekend performance in order to enforce the points earned at the Ocean X Prix.
“We have another chance to be on the podium and I’m very excited to compete again. It’s really nice to get the confidence of Jenson and all the other guys in the team to have another race. This is a great project for them and I’m glad we can continue what we started together,” were Kevin’s impressions.

Countrymen’s Connection
Communication between drivers is vital for understanding the strategies applied on the race, and both Kevin and Mikaela, as international drivers, are English-speaking. However, Hansen mentioned that being able to communicate in their native language adds value.
“Mikaela and I worked very well together at the first event together and we have had a bit more time to prepare for this race. It’s very positive we speak Swedish, she is also very talented in English, so everything we talk about can also be discussed with the team in a good way, but it gives us a bit more confidence that we can speak in our first language,” Hansen said.
Extreme E will return on August 28-29 for what will be the third race of its inaugural season, which will feature a new qualifying format.
