Polaris has been investing heavily in the company’s electrical future lately and now the GEM line is getting attention.

Now the company announced that the GEM line of personal carts will receive updates to make small electric vehicles more comfortable and easier to use than ever.

The vehicle is legally classified as a Low Speed Vehicle (LSV) or Neighborhood Electric Vehicle (NEV). These cars are a class of vehicle approved to travel on highways with signs of up to 56 kilometers per hour (35 mph). For that reason, the GEM has a top speed of 40 km / h (25 mph).

These carts are use in a variety of ways, from utility jobs to passenger vehicles and even as personal vehicles in communities with low speed limits.

Although it looks like a golf cart, the reality is that the GEM has a fairly sophisticated build quality and includes safety features like forward-facing bucket seats, three-point seatbelts, full automotive gauges and headlights, automotive grade glass, side mirrors, reversing camera and front and rear hydraulic brakes.

The update to the GEM lineup consists largely of new features and more customization options as a new panoramic sky roof uses “motorcycle windshield technology” to cover the entire length of the GEM. In addition, the glass is a translucent smoke gray color, which helps filter the strong rays of the sun while still providing a wide and clear view from the top.

These small vehicles are made to order in Anaheim, California and start at $ 10,000 approaching $ 20,000 when it will have lithium-ion batteries, additional rows of seats and other options begin to be added.

It is important to mention that the company recently signed an exclusive partnership agreement with Zero Motorcycles to combine the technology of the two to create improved electric versions of various Polaris off-road vehicles. The first model to get the Zero treatment is the new electric Ranger, a side-by-side utility vehicle that we recently saw testing out in the snow.
